What Happens When You Face Your Fears- by Dawn Cady

What happens when you face your fears? It is in human nature to avoid emotions that scare us and haunt us. No one wants to walk down a path that leads to hurt and strikes fear in our hearts. But continuously avoiding this feeling will cause the fear to stay in our heart and then we will carry it for the rest of our lives making it extremely difficult to do anything which makes us happy.

It is really important and necessary to face your fears once and for all because without facing your fears you won’t be able to move on.

You need to face your fears. Once you confront the things which have been haunting you and scaring you, they will eventually go away and you will be able to move on.

It is way better to face your fears than to avoid them. I know it is not an easy task. In fact, it very well may be the most difficult one.

There are different techniques that you can follow to face your fears and feel relaxed and attain happiness:

1. Put all distant possibilities out of your mind.

You should not worry about things that are not in your control. The more you worry the more you are going to suffer. It is better to leave some things to fate. You should not spend your time thinking about all the bad things that might happen to you. You should never spend your time plotting and planning ways to make sure these things will never happen to you.

Courageous people do not worry about things that are not in their control or things that have low chances of ever happening. These people only concentrate on things that they can control.

2. Face your fears before you start something new.

You should try to imagine all the difficult situations which you might face. Try making a list of the worst things that could happen, and you will probably realize that the situation is not that bad after all.

It is way better to point out all the difficulties before you start so that you know what you have to do and how you can tackle these situations so that you do not get afraid when something happens all of a sudden.

You do not need to lose everything so that you can lose that particular fear. But once you face your fear, it would become much easier for you to move on. Once you identify the worst that could happen to you, you will feel that you have the strength to deal with all the difficulties which can happen.

3. Try picturing the alternatives.

You should try picturing the results of giving into your fears. You should realize the cost of being ruled by fear and then try imagining the benefits of courageously following your ambitions. You should carefully weigh the two and see the difference yourself.

It is only your choice to either tackle your fears or to hide from them. Try to tackle them and do the complete opposite of what you have accomplished so far so that you can see the results. Try to get fueled by your fears; in the end, it depends solely on how bad you want something.

It all depends on how you want to live your life. Do you always want to be afraid of taking opportunities? Or do you want to take those opportunities and achieve the things that you desire?

4. Acknowledge and accept.

You should acknowledge and accept your fears and realize that you are afraid of something and don’t hide from it. Because when you accept that you are feeling afraid and you do not push yourself to get past it, a secured feeling will arise. And once you try doing it a beautiful thing will happen naturally which will surprise you and make you feel happy and relaxed.

5. Take risks when you feel ready

It is not necessary that you need to take risks and reduce the chances of your success when you are not ready or capable to take them.

It is way better to take calculated risks when you are absolutely sure that you can take it. You shouldn’t force yourself if you are not ready. When you force yourself to do something which you are not ready for, you will face a lot of troubles. Sometimes it is better to let things be the way they are and wait for them to get better with time. There is no need to take risks or feel worried about things that are beyond your control. Only take necessary risks when you know that you are absolutely ready.

Conclusion

All in all, it is way better to face your fears than to avoid them and hide from them. If you want to live a life without being afraid of things, you need to start by facing them first.
